LANGHE AND ROERO HILLS
About 150,000 years ago, the Langhe and Roero hills were a single territory but at some point the River Tanaro flooded and deviated its course, thus altering the lie of the land dramatically.

Historical towns
Pollenzo, the Roman city of Pollentia, cited by Pliny as one of the nobilia oppida, o noble towns, of ancient Liguria, was founded at the end of the 2nd century AD on a strategic route in the Tanaro Valley.

Castles
Setting out from Pollenzo, you can visit the nearby castles of Roddi, Barolo, Grinzane Cavour, Serralunga d’Alba, Racconigi and Venaria Reale.
